Norwegian/German Joint Tactical Attack Controllers train with Royal Air Force Typhoons

Joint Terminal Attack Controllers are specialised soldiers who guide fighter aircraft to targets on the ground - a key capability demonstrating the ability of air and land forces working together during training and missions. Norwegian and German Joint Terminal Attack Controllers are based in Lithuania as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup; for their Close Air Support training they require aerial platforms. Spanish Air Force F-18 and Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets, presently based in Lithuania under NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission, are made available to support their Close Air Support training, making the training more realistic. The jet pilots also benefit from the opportunity to hone their interoperability with different Allies and exercise Multidomain integration, whilst ensuring the integrity of the Baltic skies. Their joint training activities contribute to the readiness and capability of NATO Airpower.
