On today’s IRS tax refund update with the government shutdown carrying on into yet another week we will take a look at the latest including the next rounds of tax refunds scheduled for release and from there we will recap some of the impacts the shutdown has had on those still waiting on their tax refunds as well as highlighting some of the major causes of those ongoing refund delays even months after filing those tax returns. Now starting off with the latest as the next rounds of tax refunds are scheduled for release despite the current government shutdown on October 27th and November 3rd as confirmed by the tax transcripts seen here, and if you are part of these latest refund batches and have chosen to receive that refund via direct deposit you should see that refund post to your bank account by that refund date and in some cases possibly before depending on your bank but do allow 5 additional days after the refund date for it to post to your bank account before initiating a payment trace with the IRS meanwhile those who are receiving paper checks should receive it in the mail within 7 to 10 days of that refund date, and do note not all refund status results will update so it is important to check your tax transcripts to confirm you are part of the latest refund batches. Now as the Government shutdown carries into another week we are continuing to see impacts to those still waiting on their tax refunds including the closure of all taxpayer advocate service offices across the country, and for all those viewers who currently have cases with the TAS those have all been placed on hold indefinitely, meanwhile while the IRS currently has retained 53% of its workforce including Customer service phone representatives, tax processors, and tax examiners while an estimated 34,000 have been furloughed from various divisions across the IRS, now despite those employees still being retained it is expected that hold times to speak to a phone representative will be longer then usual as well as even further refund delays especially for those who recently filed by this month’s tax filing extension deadline. 0:00 Introduction 0:23 New Tax Refunds 1:12 IRS Shutdown 2:01 Transcript Codes 3:40 Delays 4:56 Closing This video is under Fair Use: Copyright Disclaimer under Section 107 of the Copyright Act in 1976, Allowance is made for "Fair Use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
