Sacramento firefighters remember 9/11 search and rescue efforts

The terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 prompted search and rescue teams from across the country to ground zero to search for survivors. Among those crews were about 80 firefighters from the Sacramento area. Those crews traveled from Travis Air Force Base to New York City. Retired Sacramento Metro Fire District Chief Rick Martinez and retired SMFD engineer Arthur Gonsalves were two of those rescuers.
