The Alliance Welcomes Pope Francis to NYC - September 2015

"I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me." As President of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, welcome to New York City, Your Holiness. I have the privilege of working alongside hundreds of animal rescue groups and shelters who work every day, saving the lives of animals who have been abused, abandoned, and forgotten. Pope Francis, in your Encyclical you teach us that every act of cruelty towards any creature is contrary to human dignity. Please keep us in your prayers while we work to ensure that all God's creatures — those with wings, or fins, or scales, or two or four feet — are treated with love and dignity.
