Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition was originally written for piano, but the solos in Il Vecchio Castello have been orchestrated for a variety of instruments. Ravel gave the solo line to the saxophone, Tushmalov to the English horn, and Ashkenazy even arranged it for the oboe d'amore.
