Relaxing ASMR Palette Knife Painting: Watch as I create a calming impressionist painting of a newfoundland dog napping by a fireplace. No talking, just soothing sounds of painting a beautiful animal. I'm continuing to practice my palette knife technique, starting with a multicolor wash coat with a big brush and then working with knives almost exclusively after that. I creating this painting over 2 sessions, the first laying out shadows, background, and cooler tones, and then a second layer after everything was dry with warmer tones, and highlights to bring out the details of the dogs face. Overall this was a fairly simple color palette. I used dioxazine purple, cadmium orange, primary yellow and titanium white, and some burnt sienna and red oxide at the end. -- For those unfamiliar, ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It’s a calming, sometimes tingling sensation people may experience in response to gentle stimuli, like soft sounds, whispering, or repetitive actions. Whether or not you experience ASMR in any specific way, these types of videos provide an opportunity to unwind, relieve stress, and experience a calming presence. I create mostly no talking ASMR art videos with the goal of enjoyable sound quality and an unintentional ASMR feel. I want these ASMR videos to offer a comfortable, relaxing, and soothing experience, with a genuine, natural style. As I’m recording, I mostly set up the camera and audio recording gear, forget about them, and get into the drawing and painting. Each video I make has subtle variations that happen as a natural part of this process.
