Exterior Many, including us, would consider the Cayman to be more aggressively styled than the more comfortable 911. Its large protruding air intakes signal its intent to take on any road and the wide bonnet, beautifully swings up towards the sides like its wings, gliding over large wheel arches. The wide rear is muscular, and the integrated spoiler ads a third brake light along with two large tail lamps. Performance The Cayman GTS is fitted with a 3.4 liter flat 6 engine producing 340Bhp gives you 380Nm of torque, when you push up to 7000rpm the Porsche's PDK transmission gets you from 0 to 100 within 4.8 amazing seconds. Let's not forget the lovely exhaust sound that this car makes………. If this is not enough you can also go all in and get the Cayman GT4 that comes with a 3.8 liter flat 6 that pushes out a roaring 385Bhp that gives you 420Nm of torque, being mid-engine the Cayman exerts less pressure on the front tyres and we genuinely felt very nimble on the road. Whether you buy the S, GTS or the GT4, the Cayman delivers heart pounding performance at every level. The electric steering is well weighted and gives you the right amount of road feedback. Its simply brilliant and adding on options just makes the experience even better. Interior Inside, everything is focused on the driver and the dash layout showcases a tight grid of buttons. This tends to get quite busy in places, and you can tell the engineer had more sway here than the designer. Unlike cars, who simplify everything into the touch screen, Porsches like to have buttons for everything!! The standard Cayman comes pretty well equipped but if you need more options they can quickly escalate the price. Standard options include rain-sensing wipers; a 4.6-inch TFT instrument cluster display; a seven-inch color touch-screen infotainment system; Navigation on the left cluster gauge and center screen, Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity; and more. Comfort & Safety The Cayman is now much quieter than the outgoing model, and the quality of the fittings shows you why it can be a little more expensive that other sports cars. Even the tallest passengers will sit comfortably in the beautifully stitched sports seats, giving the driver a commanding view of the road. Storage space is a bit limited, but the front and rear luggage areas are surprisingly large and capable of holding even longer sporting gear. The Cayman is equipped with front, head and knee airbags, side guard door impact beams, ABS and traction control and very capable brakes making it one of the safety sports cars in the market. Car Rating Performance - 5 Styling - 5 Drive & Feel - 5 Technology - 5 Price - 4 Fuel Economy - 4 Summary Pros Sleek, Sporty Exterior Powerful performance Good even at the base model Cons Gets really expensive with the options Limited storage space The Cayman may be considered as the smaller brother of the 911, but it packs a whole lot of power, performance and attitude making it a much more more sensible choice. Who else is the competition? The Porsche Boxster GTS, BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK and more. See them on motopedia.ae!
