Child hit by car, driver shot to death in Walnut Hills

WALNUT HILLS, Ohio (WKRC) - Police are investigating the shooting of a driver and a child hit by a car on the same street in Walnut Hills. The driver is dead. The boy was hit by the car on Kenton Street. Then the driver was shot while outside of the car. The driver died in surgery. A passenger suffered minor injuries. Police have been talking to him about what happened. The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Jamie Urton. Investigators say he got out of his car after the child was hit and some of the neighbors started yelling and fighting with him. His passenger was hurt during the fight but not badly. The child is expected to be okay. Police say it's not clear yet if any other circumstances led to the shooting. Earlier this year, on the same block of Kenton Street, a prominent local attorney was caught in the middle of gunfire and badly wounded. Jamie was reportedly an employee for the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). He and the passenger had left that building to get lunch. Police are searching for three suspects. The child is expected to recover. The investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is on-going.
