Maelsrlg PAR16 Short Neck 60-Watts Equivalent LED Light Bulbs

The light bulbs in the kitchen on top of the cabinets with the speakers were burning out much faster than they should have. I believe this was the result of excessive vibration from the speakers sitting next to the lights. Since halogen bulbs are now unable to be purchased around here, I really don't want to use them in a situation where they burn out quickly. My next choice would be fluorescent, however fluorescent isn't the best fit for here either due to the high number of power cycles these fixtures receive throughout a typical day, in addition to the fixtures themselves not allowing for the best air flow to keep the ballast cool. That leaves LED, which I can only use on an extremely selective basis. I first tried an EcoSmart bulb with a high price tag and an impressive 10 year warrant. No good, the light was unpleasant to me and would produce a headache after extended exposure. The second bulbs I tried were from the Sylvania brand, they were cheaper than the EcoSmart bulb and almost identical in form factor to the existing halogen PAR20 bulbs. These were decent, but if the bulb was exposed at all, it was unpleasant. The fixtures needed to be pointed upwards more than with the halogen bulbs. I wanted to give one more LED model a try before resorting to the CFL bulbs, and found these Maelsrlg (no, that's not a typographical error, that's the brand name) bulbs. The short neck would keep the bulb deeper into the can, allowing the can to be tilted out more into the room without exposing the bulb itself. The advertisement claimed it was 2,700K in color and "flicker-free". Sounded great, but so do many of the other ones available. At about $4 per bulb, I figured it was worth a shot. Much to my surprise, these bulbs seem satisfactory. I've spent about 10 minutes in the room with them and didn't feel any discomfort to the eye. The coloring is warm, in fact I think it's even slightly warmer than a standard incandescent, but this is also agreeable to me. The brightness in the room is good as I'm able to tilt the cans out towards the center of the room more now that the bulb sits lower. There's no noticeable flicker that I can detect, and that's really saying something as I am very sensitive to the flicker. Now we just have to hope they last at least somewhere near the 25,000 hour claimed lifespan. Oddly enough, I've quite consistently had better results with these off-brand cheap LED bulbs than the more expensive ones. If I get through the week and decide these are satisfactory, I may order more and replace the other side of the room to match.
