Oscar Erixson brings together two quite different fields: Economics and Human Behaviour in life and death situations. Economists usually make the assumption that humans are rational and act according with the homo economicus model while on the opposite social norms of altruism or humbleness for instance are expected to be as important in disaster scenarios as rational behaviour. Oscar received his Ph.D. in 2013. His research is mainly empirically oriented with a focus on intergenerational wealth transfers. Current research projects include the analysis of the effects of wealth shocks on economic behavior and health as well as the determinants of intra-household distributions of wealth. He have also studied human behavior and social norms under extreme stress and high stakes.
