robotchief has been a creator on the 1.9 GDPS for a while, but Madgato is one recent level of his that stands out. The main focus of the level is on a very simple pulsing effect. This effect was a classic in 1.9, and it's executed well in this level. This effect gets more intense as the level continues, starting from pulsing greyscale to very quick flashes of color. This progression is very simple, but it helps with making the level feel complete. I do wish this progression was expanded on. There's a lot more that could've been done with the effect, like playing around with multiple colors at once. The drop also introduces some animations with stars, which could've also been expanded on. The description of the level indicates that it was a simple quick level to try out effects, so I hope he gives this style a more dedicated level at some point. It seems like the last part was rushed, being emptier than the other parts of the level. The level appears designed to hit the one minute mark exactly, even cutting off in the middle of the drop. This seems to be a common trend in his levels, which is a bit unfortunate. The gameplay of this level is pretty good. I found myself completing the level in one attempt, which speaks to how readable it is. There's no sudden transitions or clicks to be found. Overall, this is a charming level and a well deserved feature on the 1.9 servers. I can see it also becoming featured on the main servers.
