Liszt composed his piano work "Harmonies poétiques et religieuses" (Poetic and Religious Harmonies / Poetische und religoöse Stimmungen / Költői és vallásos hangulatok) in 1834. The title is identical with that of a volume of poetry by Lamartine - indeed as a foreword Liszt even quotes a section from the introduction in that volume. The work was first published in 1835.
