Locust defense: autotomy and regurgitation

In this video, we observe two defense methods used by the locust: The first method is called dissuasive regurgitation, which involves expelling a brown liquid from its mouth. This liquid has an unpleasant odor and causes irritation reactions on the skin of creatures that come into contact with it. The second method is autotomy, where the cricket voluntarily cuts off its limbs, such as its legs when it feels threatened. This allows the predator to focus on the severed leg while the locust escapes with the rest of its organs.
