Novak Djokovic on Oz Open | 'Rod Laver is my most successful court, I love playing there’

Novak Djokovic said on Sunday that he "couldn't ask for a better preparation" for the upcoming Australian Open after he clinched a 92nd tour-level title at the Adelaide International. Djokovic had to save a championship point against American Sebastian Korda in the final, but fought back to win 6-7(8), 7-6(3), 6-4, extending his winning streak in Australia to 34 matches, dating back to 2019. "I love playing in Australia. I mean, my results are testament to that," Djokovic said. "I wouldn't be able to play so well in a place where I don't feel well. So I look forward to Melbourne. Rod Laver Arena is certainly my most successful court in my career. So I love playing there and I look forward to it." Djokovic was deported from the country ahead of the 2022 Australian Open as a risk to public health because of his refusal to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. However, the 35 year-old Serb, who received treatment on his left leg during Saturday's semi-final win against Daniil Medvedev, will be back in Melbourne this month, chasing a 10th title. Djokovic is now tied with Rafael Nadal for the fourth-most men's singles titles in the Open Era, trailing only Jimmy Connors (109), Roger Federer (103) and Ivan Lendl (94).
