Syrian government and opposition delegations have been meeting face-to-face again in the presence of international mediator Lakhdar Brahimi. Talks are expected to focus on the question of prisoners and those kidnapped in the conflict. The second session at the UN headquarters in Geneva follows Saturday's discussions which the envoy said hade made progress in "half-steps". Neither side is speaking to the other directly. The opposition is calling for the release of detainees. No details were given but it is thought they may focus on women and children. During the conflict the rebels have also claimed to have captured soldiers, but government delegates have said it would be a mistake to focus on individual issues. Saturday's talks focused on trying to secure safe routes for aid to reach people in Homs. The Syrian National Coalition said afterwards that the city had been besieged for 10 months without food or medicine getting through.
