How To Clean and Maintain your Water Softener

I'm cleaning out my disgusting and smelly water softener with water and a brush. I like to do this maintenance about 1 time per year. Just wait until the salt level is very low so the tank is lighter. I talked with a Rain Soft (my water softener manufacturer) technician and he told me that the salt is actually what causes the dirt, the salt can be dirty when it is collected and bagged. This is a pretty simple and easy maintenance tip for your home water softener and should help extend the life of your appliance.
