It’s hard to define his music with just one word. The artist I’m introducing today is Austin Millz, a DJ and producer born in 1988, raised in Harlem, New York. With house music at its core, his sound carries grooves and atmospheres rooted in various Black music traditions. Rather than hitting hard, his style makes you move with feeling, naturally swaying your body to the rhythm. Harlem is a place where jazz, soul, and hip-hop have flowed through everyday life for decades. You can feel that environment reflected in Austin Millz’s music. There’s a relaxed sense of timing, and a strong awareness of the space between rhythms. Because of that, his music never feels rigid. It lets your body respond instinctively, and that, in itself, is a real skill. It’s a completely different feeling from the Latin influences we talked about in the previous video.
