Sermon - 1st Sunday in Lent: Stranger & Neighbor; Rev. David Fuquay. 3-9-2025.

Based on Luke 10:25-37 | Part of our Lenten series "Everything [in] Between" In this first Sunday of Lent sermon, we explore the space between stranger and neighbor through Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan. When asked "Who is my neighbor?", Jesus turns the question upside down, challenging us to rethink who we love, how we love, and what love actually requires. This sermon examines how we often try to draw boundaries around our obligations to others, while Jesus calls us to a radical, boundary-crossing love. The parable invites us to see ourselves in multiple positions: as the priest and Levite who pass by, as the wounded traveler in need of help, and as the Samaritan who shows unexpected mercy. Join us as we reflect on what it means to "go and do likewise" in our polarized world, moving beyond categories that separate us into the transformative space where strangers become neighbors.
