Where to begin? I guess from the beginning...I first met Ron Kiczenski in 1993 at my very good friend Bob Holmgren's house in a sleepy little beach town on the California coast called Cayucos halfway between LA and SF. My friend Bob who has since passed away (he was 89 year old) was raised in a world that glorified alcohol and demonized marijuana (marihuana) and all those who chose to smoke rather than drink were ostersized by the society. While Bob was a purple heart recipient from WWII (he was injured on Pelalau in the South Pacific), he loved his Country but feared his Government and the fear of "the Gestopo" kicking down his door made the last part of his life uneasy. Bob always hated weed and if he caught his kids or a boyfriend of his daughter's using pot he would lose it and thought it was a loser "hippie drug". The first time Bob used marijuana was after developing Adult Epilepsy from the damage to his brain from years as an alcoholic. He was then required to take really heavy prescription drugs like Dilantin and Thenalbarbitol for the rest of his life and after suffering from debilitating nasuea caused by these drugs, he tried pot and found an amazing cure that gave him his life back. While on one of my daily visits to Bob's, a guy came by named Ron Kiczenski and Ron proceeded to tell Bob and I about how he had just sent a quarter of a pound of weed to President Clinton and that he was waiting to be arrested but the White House confirmed receiving the package but was denying that there was marijuana in the package. I was shocked to hear about this and proud of Ron for what he was doing and although I was basically broke, I gave him $50 and told him to keep up the good fight and gave him a big "Right On Bro" handshake and slap on the back. Ron had to run cuz his two step-sons John and Shawn were out in the car, but as he was making his way to the front door I happened to say to him "hey, I have a video camcorder and we'll just do it again and I'll video tape the whole thing going into the post office without any cuts in the tape, and that will be the proof" and Ron and I exchanged numbers. It wasn't very long before Ron was sending his second package containing pot to President Clinton as I video taped . Along with the quarter pound of shake (weed) the package contained many pounds of information included Hemp, Lifeline to the Future by Chris Conrad, hemp seeds, a US Flag made from hemp like the very first one and hemp jogging shorts for the President. I drove Ron straight to the San Francisco airport and after almost leaving without his license that I found in the back seat after I drove away, he got on a plane to D.C. to turn himself in with the videotape evidence and a sure Federal Trial on why he did what he did, but that trial would never come. First Ron, with videotape in hand, went to the Secret Service who sent him to the DEA who sent him to the Justice Department who sent him to the Attorney General who sent him to the FBI who sent him to the Postal Inspectors who told him "Thank you for your information, have a nice day". While Ron was away in Washington, I was followed by a black Crown Victoria for three days and from that day on I knew that our phones were bugged and "big brother" was definitely watching us. The goal of this action was to get arrested and bring to light the information that we had regarding Hemp and how the planting of hemp could bring about freedom of the individual and an option to the petroleum trance we were being forced to be in. Our plan was to have as much of their (government) information as possible on or with us so that it would be admissible in our trial and enlighten the jury and the World of all of Hemp's impressive abilities / uses. With Ron we sent the second package to President Clinton, sent 10 packages to prominent politicians and media people and the footage was on MTV for three days, set up grow lights with live plants at Marty Tildon's apartment in (Seattle) Lynnwood, WA and called the Seattle DEA and Lynnwood PD and were on Seattle TV News, Planted pot on July 4th, 1994 and went through a trial and were acquitted of cultivation, delivered hemp ice cream to Hillary Clinton at FOX Studios in Los Angeles, went to Phoenix for SuperBowl XXX were we bought a Cannabis Dealers License along with tax stamps and sold pot in Arizona and were threatened by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the media, and the labels I made were in TIME magazine (page 15) and Ron did a ton of radio and print interviews educating the masses. The Chief of the Chukchansi tribe performed an Acorn Ceremony over me outside of the jail at Bass Lake under a great oak after we went to a tribal meeting and asked for their blessings before we planted on the 4th of July. The Ceremony was intended to be the beginning of a small event that would grow like a mighty oak and bring Hemp back to America.
