Bruce Wayne’s undercover mission reaches a breaking point as The Pact successfully infiltrates the Agency’s black site to steal a dangerous virus known as Lotus. The mission turns violent, and depending on player choices, Bruce may either try to stop the villains quietly or let chaos unfold to maintain his cover. John Doe’s transformation accelerates dramatically. As his trust in Bruce is tested and fractured—especially based on how Bruce treated him in previous episodes—John either tries to help as a vigilante or begins to spiral toward a more sinister identity. His moral path diverges sharply depending on the player's choices, laying the groundwork for two distinct Joker origins. Tensions rise between Batman and both of his allies: Jim Gordon, who is now at odds with Waller and possibly Bruce, and Amanda Waller, whose secret past with the Riddler and ruthless methods come to light. Trust is crumbling on all sides. Catwoman, if she survived the previous episode, may be captured by Waller or try to make her own escape, further complicating Bruce’s emotional decisions. The episode climaxes with Bruce’s cover finally blown and John Doe witnessing betrayal or affirmation, shaping who he becomes. John steals the Lotus virus, and depending on his mental state and Bruce’s influence, he either declares himself a hero trying to stop criminals—or begins a descent into becoming the Joker.
