Madhuragaanam Season 2 Episode 22 - Neela Vaanam Thanil - Rendered by Arudra Suresh

Madhuragaanam Season 2 Episode 22 Song: Neela Vaanam Thanil Ragam: Punnagavarali Talam: Adi Composer: Ootthukadhu Venkatasubbaiyer Rendered by Arudra Suresh About the song: Every composer dedicates most of their compositions to their favourite deity or God. Lord Krshna has evidently been the favourite deity of this brilliant vaaggeyakara, who is said to have gotten inspired by Lord Krshna's benevolent glance. Having spent most of his childhood in Mannargudi and a major part of his life in Ootthukkadu, Venkata Kavi refers to the Kalinga nartana Krshna (dancing lord) in many of his compositions, almost like a secondary signature. Venkata Kavi's passion and fondness for dance is evident in many compositions, which is reflected in this keertanam. This could also be attributed to Bhagavata mela's influence on him. Very few Carnatic composers have used jatis in their compositions and even those have been very sporadic, but Venkata Kavi's use of jatis seems unparalleled. About the artist: Arudra has been learning Carnatic music for the past 15 years. He is currently under the tutelage of Dr. R Ganesh.
