GE 55-watt A19 Watt-Miser Soft White Incandescent Light Bulb - rapidstart_12

Here is a video of a GE 55-watt Watt-Miser incandescent light bulb. These were an interesting types of incandescent bulb offered by GE and others; the premise was that you could save about 5 watts or so versus using a full-wattage bulb, in exchange for a slightly reduced lumen output. This bulb here is the 55-watt version, it was designed to replace a 60-watt full-wattage bulb. There were also 34 watts, which replaced a 40-watt full-wattage bulb, 70 watts, which replaced a 75-watt bulb, and 95 watts, which replaced a 100-watt bulb, among others, including floods and 3-way bulbs. Even lower-wattage versions were eventually added to the lineup as well, including 52 watts, 67 watts, and 90 watts, providing even greater energy savings. I doubt any of these bulbs are still under production, halogens and mainly LEDs have taken them over nowadays. I would imagine that the standard 34- through 95-watt A19 versions are banned just like the full-wattage ones. Regardless, these were an intriguing take on energy-saving lighting at the time, fulfilling their purpose with none of the fancy stuff. No fluorescent tubes, LEDs, halogen gases, nothing crazy.
