Boris Johnson was today facing the biggest rebellion of his premiership as ministers clashed with backbench Tory MPs over plans to introduce Covid passports. As many as 80 Conservative MPs are preparing to revolt against the measure which would force people to show proof of two Covid jabs or a negative PCR or lateral flow test in the previous 48 hours to enter nightclubs, indoor venues of over 500 people and outdoor settings with crowds of over 4,000 people. Although the measure — part of the Government’s Plan B package of restrictions to slow the rampant spread of the Omicron variant — will pass thanks to Labour’s support, the vote is set to be the biggest Tory revolt since Mr Johnson became Prime Minister.
