Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he was “completely consistent” with the medical advice when announcing the no-fault indemnity scheme for GPs on Monday night, and doesn’t have “any issue” with what he said. On Monday evening, Mr Morrison announced an indemnity scheme for doctors who were willing to give the AstraZeneca vaccine to younger Australians, which has been met with backlash. “I certainly don’t have any issue with what I said about that, and it was completely consistent with the medical advice. “I note that some 120,000 Australians under the age of 40 have had the AstraZeneca vaccine. The TGA has approved the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for those aged 18 and above. “On Monday, what I announced was that the federal government, I never indicated that it was a National Cabinet decision, I said it was a decision that was noted because it was a decision taken by the Commonwealth government. “I hope that clears up the record.”
