Deadly Double Shooting in Upstate; Woman Bound

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -- A deadly double shooting left a woman hospitalized in Spartanburg County on Friday. It happened on the 3800 block of Highway 11 in the Fingerville area around 5 a.m. Witnesses told News 13 they visited the woman at a local hospital and she was "going to live" after showing up at a neighbor's house in a panic. "She had been shot in the head. Her hands were duct taped behind her back. She had duct tape all around her mouth. There was just blood everywhere," said witness Adam Stewart. Stewart described the woman as hysterical. "Once we got the duct tape off her mouth, she was just saying she had been shot, she has been shot and asking us to go check on her boyfriend," said Stewart. Stewart's future son-in-law, Austin Walters, found 40-year-old Carey Mauldin's body lying on the couch at his house next door. "There was a puddle of blood. There was feet tracks, shoes, tennis shoes walking through the blood. There was a flat screen TV, a big 60 inch TV sitting at the doorway, like somebody tried to steal it and something went wrong," said Walters. Walters said he only got a quick look. "He didn't look like he was duct taped. It looked like he might have been sleeping or something," said Walters. Meanwhile, Stewart was next door trying to calm the woman wearing just underwear and a T-shirt. "She blurted out some names. But, she didn't say why they done it or anything like that. But, it was a hysterical time in that point in time," said Stewart. Stewart said he can't recall the names. But, then again, witnesses said a lot of names came in and out of that house. "Two, three, four, five, six all the way back during the day in and out of that house," said Stewart. The house remained empty, as of Friday evening. "This happening next door, you know, it's terrifying," said Stewart. Parents tell us nearby Cooley Springs-Fingerville Elementary School canceled their field day following the shooting. County sheriff's deputies tell us the kids weren't in danger, but the school kept them locked inside as a precaution. _______________ Follow WLOS on social media: WLOS ABC 13 News on Facebook:   / news13   WLOS ABC 13 News on Twitter:   / wlos_13   WLOS ABC 13 News on Instagram:   / wlos_13   Subscribe to WLOS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ABC13Cha...
