This is the section of the COBDR I was looking forward to the entire trip. The last time I rode the COBDR in 2019 my friend, Michael, and I were unable to get to the top of Hagerman Pass due to the heavy snowfall the previous winter. Even with a much lighter accumulation of snow over the previous winter you'll see there is still plenty of snow near the top of the pass. This part of the Section 4 has different challenges than the first part. Much of the road up to Hagerman Pass is covered with embedded baby head rocks. In our case, it was raining most of the time so they were wet and slippery. We were riding the COBDR from south to north, so the other side of the pass was much easier riding. The views on both sides are beautiful. The road on the far side of the pass is much narrower, with rock walls on your right and sheer cliffs on your left. You know the first rule of motorcycle riding, "Look where you want to go." That said, try not to spend too much time looking over the drop-off down into the valley far below. ;)
