#2224- Pursue Righteousness - (1 Timothy 6:11 & 17-21)

Song # 2224 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In 1 Timothy chapter 6 we read that we should put our hope in God, and not in earthly things such as money. As a man of God pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). Tell those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (1 Timothy 6:17). Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share (1 Timothy 6:18). In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life (1 Timothy 6:19). Guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge (1 Timothy 6:20), which some have professed and in doing so have wandered from the faith (1 Timothy 6:21). Thought for today: there’s only one way to heaven, but that’s all we need. Thought for the future: now is the time to invest in heaven. Where will you spend your eternity?
