Our itinerary was filled with exciting stops and breathtaking sights, beginning at the captivating Smitswinkel Bay viewpoint. As we arrived, we were immediately mesmerized by the awe-inspiring views, and we even had the privilege of spotting a black chameleon blending seamlessly with its surroundings. This being our second visit to this beautiful park, we were once again amazed by its natural beauty. For those who wish to extend their stay, overnight huts are available. After a brief 10-minute stop, we continued our drive at 3:48 PM, heading towards the famous Cape of Good Hope. As we drove through the park, we took in the picturesque scenery while adhering to the speed limit of 40 km/h. The Cape of Good Hope is renowned as the southernmost point of the African continent, attracting visitors with its stunning views. Arriving at 4:11 PM, we wasted no time in capturing some memorable photographs. Eager for an adventure, we embarked on a hike with our enthusiastic 3-year-old, Viraaj. The hike commenced at 4:14 PM and, despite its challenges, the breathtaking views made every step worthwhile. Viraaj, our little explorer, was thrilled to be part of the hike, and we took turns carrying him on our shoulders as we ascended. The hike presented steep and precarious paths, but the magnificent vistas made it all the more rewarding. Although we initially took a wrong route, we quickly rectified our mistake and found our way back. Along the hike, we captured breathtaking shots of the surrounding landscapes. Despite the difficulties, Viraaj's enthusiasm motivated us to persevere. Having hiked with a toddler during our trips to Manali, India, we knew it was no easy feat. Viraaj had already proven his hiking abilities, making this a great adventure for him. Reaching the summit was challenging, considering the steep and sometimes treacherous terrain, but our determination paid off, and we arrived at the top at 4:35 PM. The panoramic views were simply awe-inspiring, with the parking area appearing like tiny toy cars from that height. After taking a few moments to appreciate the beauty, we began our descent at 4:43 PM. Descending with a 3-year-old added another layer of adventure, as Viraaj insisted on hiking on his own. His fearlessness, acquired from conquering 350 steps in Bali, made us proud. Despite the steepness and challenges, we safely made it down by 4:57 PM, completing the entire hike in approximately 45 minutes. Next on our list was Cape Point, where we arrived at the funicular point by 5 PM, just in time for the last ride up. We swiftly purchased our tickets and boarded the funicular, marking Viraaj's first funicular experience. The area provided amenities such as a restaurant, washrooms, and ample parking space. The ride lasted a mere two minutes, transporting us to the top. Upon reaching the top, we climbed a few steps to reach the lighthouse. It was indeed a workout, but Viraaj's eagerness to explore kept us motivated. This time, we focused on the new lighthouse, having previously visited both the old and new ones. After taking in the magnificent scenery, we began our descent at 5:55 PM, enjoying the incredible views and even catching glimpses of the sunset. During our hike down, we took a break at one of the viewpoints and had the privilege of spotting elands. The park is home to a diverse range of animals, and we were fortunate to have encountered turtles, ostriches, and baboons during our previous visit. Viraaj excitedly captured some photos of the elands before we reached the Cape Point parking area at 6:18 PM. The descent took us 20 minutes, signaling that it was time to head to the beach. Cape Point is renowned for its abundant wildlife, and during our previous visit, we had been lucky enough to spot turtles, ostriches, and baboons. Excited to see the ostriches again and perhaps capture more amazing photos, we arrived at Platboom Beach at 6:40 PM. The beach boasted stunning white sand, where we had an enjoyable time playing and relaxing with Viraaj. Unfortunately, the ostriches were nowhere to be found this time, but that didn't dampen our spirits. After about 15 minutes of beach fun, we realized it was time to bid farewell to the Cape of Good Hope, as the park closed at 7:30 PM. Thus, we began our journey back. On our way back, we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of baboons, adding to the excitement of our trip. It was an unforgettable day exploring the Cape of Good Hope, and we sincerely hope you enjoyed joining us on this vlog. #capetown #capeofgoodhope #capepoint #beachdestination #savidiaries
