View of "The Promised Land" from Jordan | Mount Nebo & Madaba | Jordan Series EP. 07 | Holy Land Map

Join me on an unforgettable journey through one of Jordan’s most spiritually and historically significant regions — Madaba and Mount Nebo — as part of Episode 07 of my Jordan travel series. This episode blends powerful religious storytelling with immersive travel visuals and local cultural experiences, creating a deeply reflective and enriching experience for viewers seeking more than just a typical vlog. Our exploration begins in the heart of Madaba, famously known as the "City of Mosaics." As I walk through its vibrant streets, we dive into the city’s rich Christian heritage and learn about its peaceful coexistence with the Muslim community that continues to define the spirit of this place. Madaba is home to one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries in the Christian world — the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land. Located inside the humble yet sacred walls of St. George’s Church, this ancient mosaic map dates back to the 6th century and is made entirely of tiny colored stones laid across the church floor. It provides an extraordinary look into the geography of the biblical world, showcasing Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, the Jordan River, and other sacred sites in stunning detail. While inside, I also share who St. George was and why he remains a symbol of faith and courage in Christian tradition. Next, we visit a mosaic and souvenir workshop run by the Queen Rania Foundation. Here, we witness local artisans — many of them women — working patiently to recreate ancient mosaic techniques in a setting that blends cultural preservation with community empowerment. It’s not just a place to shop but a place to connect with living history and support ethical, locally made art. From Madaba, the journey ascends to the windswept heights of Mount Nebo — a place of immense significance in Islamic, Christian, and Jewish traditions. According to sacred texts, it was here that Prophet Musa (Moses A.S.) stood after leading Bani Israel through the desert for forty years, and was shown the Promised Land — but was not allowed to enter it. As we walk across the mountain, I narrate the powerful life story of Prophet Musa, from his miraculous childhood in Egypt to his mission, confrontation with Pharaoh, and eventual journey to this very mountaintop. I also correct a common misconception — it was not Haroon A.S. (Aaron), but rather Yusha A.S. (Joshua) who led Bani Israel into Palestine after the passing of Moses. The mountain is home to four ancient churches, each with original mosaic floors that have miraculously survived the centuries. As we explore these ruins, the sense of standing on sacred ground is overwhelming. The simplicity of stone, combined with the weight of divine history, is something no camera can fully capture — but I do my best to bring you as close as possible. From the summit of Mount Nebo, one of the most powerful views in the region awaits. On a clear day, you can see Jerusalem — just 45 kilometers away. This is the very view that Prophet Musa is believed to have witnessed in his final moments. Beside it lies the shimmering Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, and the ancient city of Jericho, known as the oldest and lowest inhabited city on the planet. This unique geographical intersection makes Mount Nebo not only a religious site but also a place of profound natural wonder. Throughout this journey, I take moments to interact with the group of travelers I was leading under my travel brand, Tales of Time. I recorded their thoughts and reflections at various points in the video to offer you a fuller perspective of how these sacred places resonate with people from different backgrounds. Their words add personal dimension to this historical and spiritual experience. To add a layer of cultural context, I briefly reference the classic Hollywood film "The Ten Commandments," which dramatised the life of Moses for global audiences. While that film used artistic license, here we stand in the real landscapes where those stories unfolded — not on a set, but in the heart of Jordan. This video is for those who are fascinated by sacred geography, religious history, mosaic art, and the legacy of prophets. It’s for travelers and believers alike, for those seeking both beauty and meaning. With every step through Madaba’s mosaic-lined churches and every gust of wind atop Mount Nebo, you’ll feel history, spirituality, and humanity merge into one compelling experience. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Please like the video, share your reflections in the comments, and subscribe to continue this travel series with me.
