Speakers: Umar Cheema - Investigative reporter, The News Umar Cheema is an investigative reporter for Pakistan's English language daily, The News International. In 2008, he won a was a Daniel Pearl Journalism Fellowship, and was the first Pearl fellow to work for The New York Times. Cheema studied at the London School of Economics under a Chevening Scholarship and obtained a master degree in Comparative Politics. Philipus Parera - Investigative Editor, TEMPO Philipus has been involved in various investigation projects for PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk, an Indonesia media company since 2006 and was part of ICIJ’s transnational project of Panama Papers. In a team he investigated a wide range of issues including corruption, environmental crime, tax avoidance and human trafficking, among others. Pursuing his master degree in International Communication from The University of Leeds, UK under Chevening Scholarship, he is now the managing editor of Tempo’s Investigative Desk. Walter V Robinson - Editor At-Large, Boston Globe Walter V. Robinson is editor at large at the Boston Globe. He returned to the newspaper in 2014 after seven years as Distinguished Professor of Journalism at Northeastern University. He led the Boston Globe Spotlight Team’s investigation that uncovered the Catholic Church sexual abuse scandal and won the 2003 Pulitzer gold medal for Public Service. He was the editor of the Spotlight Team for seven years. The team's work sparked similar disclosures across the country and around the world. Robinson has been city editor, metro editor, White House correspondent and foreign correspondent. He has reported for the Globe from 48 states and more than 30 countries.
