Missed Connection - Rolling Coal

Before this incident, I had not really experienced the phenomenon of a driver "rolling coal," that is, a driver causing their vehicle to emit a sooty, thick smoky exhaust, usually in front of hybrid/electric vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians. It's a driver's way of showing they do not like you. I was riding my bike on Braddock Road in Fairfax County and noticed a pick-up squeezing by me who seemed to rev their engine a bit with an extra bit of smoke coming from its exhaust. They were driving aggressively as they tailgated the car in front of them, but I figured it was just a junky truck. Later on, I passed the pick-up truck since I was in an adjacent lane at a red light. When the light turned green, I stayed in my lane and heard the same pick-up truck revving its engine. I then saw black smoke coming out of its exhaust that stopped just after it passed me, and that's when I realized that the driver was rolling coal. I laughed because I thought it was an immature act, but then took things more seriously as I imagined a person with asthma would have likely been put in a dangerous situation. Note: I do not engage with drivers who I see behaving aggressively, and I do not advise anyone to confront a driver who is still in their vehicle. If you see someone behaving in a dangerous manner, avoid them if possible, and contact the police if they do not leave you alone. This video was taken by me with my ContourROAM camera on December 18, 2014.
