Don't underestimate the power of the multimeter. I've solved many special cases with it that even well-experienced masters couldn't detect. You'll need certain functions if you want to solve some peculiar cases. Make sure the Diode Mode and Continuity Mode can be used separately; there are many situations where only the Diode Mode can identify the strange problem.
