Various of blood inside car STORYLINE A car bomb exploded in Mosul in north-east Iraq on Monday as a seven-vehicle Iraqi National Guard patrol was passing by. Police said at least four guardsmen were killed and another three were wounded. A civilian was also wounded. Gunmen followed up the blast with a burst of automatic weapons fire before fleeing the scene, the patrol's commander said. He added that two guard vehicles and two civilian cars were damaged in the attack. Militants waging a 17-month insurgency have repeatedly targeted Iraqi police and guardsmen in an effort to thwart US-backed efforts to build a strong Iraqi security force capable of restoring stability.
