[Nintendo DS] Pokémon SoulSilver Walkthrough [94] - Challenging The Upgraded Elite 4

Walkthrough by Bermy Pokémon to catch: None 0:00:00 - Indigo Plateau Now that you have completed the Kanto post-game storyline, it's time to re-challenge the Elite 4. While Red is certainly the single most difficult trainer in the game, the Elite 4 have changed their teams around and their Pokémon are significantly stronger than when you first faced off against them. Here is my setup for challenging the Elite 4: Mamoswine - Soft Sand Tyranitar - Life Orb Snorlax - Leftovers Starmie - Choice Specs Lanturn - Magnet Heracross - Black Belt In short, you want to have strong Bug, Ground, Psychic, Rock, Electric and Ice Pokémon. I usually throw in Snorlax as well because it's such a strong Normal Pokémon that can really save the day. When you are ready, head back inside and begin the challenge. Place a strong Bug Pokémon as your lead Pokémon before speaking with Will. 01:57 - Will (Elite 4) Will starts out with a level 58 Bronzong (weak to Fire) that will cast Reflect on Will's entire party, which will significantly increase the party's defense. Fortunately, the rest of Will's Pokémon are all weak to Bug, and Heracross really shines in this fight. Use Bug attacks to defeat Wills level 59 Grumpig, level 60 Jynx (weak to Fire as well), level 60 Slowbro (weak to Electric as well), and level 61 Gardenia. I recommend using Electric attacks to defeat Will's level 62 Xatu, as Xatu tends to be faster than most Bug Pokémon with the exception of Scyther/Scizor if it is a high enough level. Heal up after the fight and proceed to the next room for the next member of the Elite 4. Be sure to place a Pokémon that can use Earthquake as your lead, since Koga's first Pokémon is immune to Psychic. 07:07 - Koga (Elite 4) Koga begins with a level 61 Skuntank, which is immune to Psychic attacks, but weak to Ground, so 1 Earthquake should be all you require here. You can either use Psychic attacks for the remaining Pokémon, or use a combination of Ground and Rock Pokémon. Use Ground or Psychic for the level 60 Toxicroak, level 62 Swalot, and level 62 Muk, then switch to Rock or Psychic for Will's level 63 Venomoth, and level 64 Crobat. Heal up after the fight and proceed to the next room for the next member of the Elite 4. Be sure to place a Pokémon that can use strong Psychic attacks as your lead, as that will be all you will need for the next member of the Elite 4. 12:00 - Bruno (Elite 4) In my opinion, Bruno is actually easier this time around than when you first fought him as all of his Pokémon are now weak to Psychic attacks. This makes things incredibly easy for my Starmie with Choice Specs. Alternatively, you can use Flying attacks for all of Bruno's Pokémon other than Lucario. Bruno starts with a level 62 Hitmontop, then randomly uses a level 61 Hitmonlee, level 61 Hitmonchan, level 62 Hariyama, level 64 Machamp, and level 64 Lucario. This should be the easiest of the Elite 4 fights. Heal up after the fight and proceed to the next room for the next member of the Elite 4. Be sure to place a Pokémon that can use strong Bug attacks as your lead, as that will be all you will need for most of the next member of the Elite 4. 15:51 - Karen (Elite 4) Karen starts with a level 62 Weavile, that will likely be faster than whatever Bug Pokémon you have, but it shouldn't be able to 1-shot them. Use your strongest Bug attacks on Karen's level 62 Absol, and level 64 Umbreon. You will want to use either Rock or Electric attacks for Honchkrow, as it will be able to defeat Bug Pokémon easily, then use Rock attacks for her level 63 Houndoom. Karen's most difficult Pokémon to defeat is actually her level 62 Spiritomb, which has no weaknesses at all in this version of the game. Your best bet here is to hit it hard, then allow it to defeat itself with Curse, then swap out the cursed Pokémon to eliminate the Curse. Heal up after the fight and proceed to the next room for the next member of the Elite 4. Be sure to place a Pokémon that can use strong Ice or Dragon attacks as your lead, before approaching Lance (I use Mamoswine). 22:03 - Lance (Elite 4 Champion) Lance is easily the second most difficult trainer in the game. His Dragon Pokémon are incredibly fast and strong, so be ready to swap between your Pokémon and heal up as needed. Lance leads off with his level 72 Slamance, which can be defeated by an Ice Pokémon. He will also use a level 68 Gyarados, which is weak to Rock and Electric attacks, a level 72 Garchomp, which is weak to Dragon and Ice attacks, a level 73 Altaria, weak to Rock, Dragon and Ice attacks, a level 68 Charizard, weak to Rock and Electric attacks, and his level 75 Dragonite, which is weak to Dragon and Ice attacks. You receive the exact same ending after defeating Lance this time as when you originally defeated them, but this was certainly a tougher challenge.
