The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau was able to identify and arrest the mother of the abandoned baby found buried near a riverbed in the city of Compton. As a result of the multiple leads generated due to the public’s and media’s assistance in this case, Special Victims Bureau’s detectives were able to identify the mother as 33 year-old Porche Laronda Washington. Special Victims Bureau and Major Crimes Bureau detectives located Miss Washington in the city of Compton on Thursday, December 3, 2015. The mother was arrested on a $500,000.00 arrest warrant for attempt murder and child endangerment. She is currently being held at Century Regional Detention Facility and has a next court date of December 7, 2015. Special Victims Bureau detectives determined Miss Washington was admitted into a local hospital on November 23, 2015. Miss Washington and the baby were released from the hospital on November 26, 2015. The baby is currently still in the hospital under medical care. The baby’s medical condition is good. Placement of the baby once released from the hospital will be determined by the Department of Children and Family Services. Special Victims Bureau and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in identifying and locating the mother of the child.
