We all design one thing or the other in our lives. Whether it’s a website, app or anything in between. However, it’s not always easy to take a step back and see how everything comes together. In this informative series we cover principles of User Experience/UX design with an aim to provide insights into what makes everyday products enjoyable with good design principles and how behaviour influences design. Today's Principle is Zeigarnik Effect. Named after russian psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik, the Zeigarnik Effect states that incomplete tasks are more likely to be remembered than completed ones. In practice, it is used to recall information from an interrupted task, resulting in longer retention. The principle in Practice: Using Google Calendar, you can create tasks and track their progress. The incomplete circle is the visual translation of the Zeigarnik Effect. Takeaways Providing clear indicators will make finding content more accessible. Clear progress indicators encourage users to complete tasks. Interruptions boost the recall of information. #behaviouraleconomics #behavioural #behaviouralscience #uiux #uxdesign Visit our website and our twitter page for more interesting reads https://www.behavioural.in/   / behavioural132   About Sanrachna Sanrachna Foundation is an autonomous centre for research and innovation-based at Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University, Gurugram.
