Take your jazz chops to the next level: book a call with Marc https://nextlevel.jazzguitarlessons.net/ Jazz Guitar Vlog - Galbraith's Rhythm #2 - Comping Book In this episode, we play the Galbraith comping study "Rhythms #2", which is based on rhythm changes, basically the chord sequence appearing in the infamous Gershwin "I Got Rhythm". This is also the second time the song appears in the book, and this time, it's using a neat jazz guitar "walking chord" style (not to be confused with walking bass). Walking chords, in a jazz guitar context, means that chord shapes "walk" in quarter-notes. This makes for a seemingly simple comping study ... but it's eff-ing hard to play well or fast! The fact that we have to change chord shape every single beat makes it a technical challenge for me! As always, keeping it groovy and swinging should be the priority! I've playing this study entirely fingerstyle, on Takamine classical (nylon strings) guitar. As usual, after the playing (demo), I will discuss a few important point regarding this comping study. So, listen first. Then get to the instructions later. Hope you enjoy. Please let me know if you have further questions about this comping.
