I’m joining The Makers Mob: http://www.frankmakes.com/frank-makes... I have been continuing to work on the basement project. The next part is making the first shelf on the new basement wall. For this first shelf and the other shelves on this wall, I am using the remaining pieces of glue lam beam we salvaged from the demolition of our pool structure. I had to rip the beams in half with a skill saw in order to move them into the shop. With the band saw, I cut the pieces of the beams into 3 slabs to form the shelves. I glued two pieces back together to make the sections for the bottom shelf as it will be wider than the other shelves. I cut out a series of plugs to cover the knots and defects in the top of the self. The plugs are shaped like cats. I then shaped the shelf to its final form.
