The strategic Syrian town of Salma has been seeing residents return since it was recaptured by government forces earlier this month. The Syrian army recaptured Salma, located in the northeast of Latakia Governate, on January 12. The town suffered severe damages during its three-year occupation by extremist groups. "The terrorists destroyed nearly the entire town. They burned 200 hectares of olive groves and 300 hectares of forests. Now they have fled towards Turkey," said Ibrahim Salim, governor of Latakia. More than 10,000 people used to live in Salma. Some of the residents have returned in hopes of rebuilding their homes. "Now it's very good after the Syrian army sit in this town. Now there is no danger here. Our future is very good here," said a Salma resident. Local officials said government troops are now able to advance from Salma towards provinces in the northern part of the country. More on: http://newscontent.cctv.com/NewJsp/ne...
