The Intergenerational Family of God | December 14, 2025 | Pastor Ken Jensen

Pastor Ken wrapped up our “Tribe DNA” series by focusing on what it means to be an intergenerational family of God. Building on the fivefold ministry (apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, pastoral, and teaching), he emphasized that these gifts are spread across the whole church and that every generation is needed for the full expression of Christ’s body. Using the story of the road to Emmaus (Luke 24), he highlighted how the risen Jesus walked with two discouraged disciples, explained the Scriptures to them, yet was only recognized when He was welcomed into their home and broke bread with them. In the same way, Pastor Ken taught that Jesus becomes most visible not just through teaching, but when Scripture is “fleshed out” in real, everyday community—especially around intergenerational tables and shared life together. He compared a healthy church to a fire that needs three logs to burn well—each log representing a different generation. When generations draw close, give the Holy Spirit “air,” and center on the light of Jesus, the fire of God’s presence burns bright. Pastor Ken then challenged each generation at Tribe: Fire Generation (younger): Fix your eyes on Jesus, learn to serve, and be faithful in small things. Joshua Generation (middle): Learn to lead well—steward Scripture, write down your prayers, and take responsibility for God’s assignments. Wisdom Generation (older): Pray prodigals home, encourage younger believers, and faithfully tell the stories of what God has done. He closed by praying that Tribe would be a people who make Christ visible—that anyone who comes among us would leave saying, “Jesus has really risen,” as they encounter His presence through our intergenerational life together.
