8 Dead In Lakhimpur-Kheri Violence | Faye D’Souza
Violence broke out at Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district where farmers were protesting the visit of Union Minister of State for home Ajay Mishra and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya. On Sunday, four farmers were killed when they were run over by a vehicle in the convoy of the Union minister for state for home, in which his son and other relatives were allegedly seated. 4 other people, said to be BJP workers were killed in the violence that followed. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav were detained while they were heading towards Lakhimpur.
