The Threadbound Oracle Flip Through

The Threadbound Oracle by @numinousspirit is a gorgeous 50 card oracle deck that is “made for divination, storytelling, and self-discovery.” - Numinous Press Website. I love its focus on bookbinding, magic and storytelling, as someone who has spent their life writing, in libraries and with my nose in books this environment feels very close to home for me. The Threadbound Oracle is inspired by and appears in Cedar McCloud’s companion novel, entitled The Thread That Binds. I can’t wait to read the novel and see how the deck and writing in the book work together to create a very special world and space for reading. The deck is made up of 29 narrative archetype story cards and 21 suit cards, broken down into paper, ink and thread. The cards are all originally painted using watercolor and inks, and the imagery is stunning. Much like with a traditional Tarot deck the Story Cards deal with big picture issues and archetypes while the minor suit cards deal with smaller scale meanings and concerns. The cards all contain keywords, which helps the reader focus on the meaning associated with them. The yardstick is 250 gsm with a textured linen finish, and measure 2.75” x 4.75” (standard tarot size). The accompanying guidebook is 100 pages, and it includes instructions & suggestions for using the deck along with interpretations for each of the cards. I absolutely love the box that the deck and guidebook come in, it is shaped like a beautifully illustrated book with a magnetic closure.
