AQA Chemistry Required Practical 7: Hydroxide precipitation test for metal cations

A revision video for Unit 8 of AQA GCSE Chemistry (8462) looking at the hydroxide test used to identify metal cations in solutions. This covers specification section 8.3.2 Metal hydroxides, which forms part of Chemistry Required practical 7: use of chemical tests to identify the ions in unknown single ionic compounds. The first part of this test (Cu2+, Fe2+ and Fe3+) also comes up in the A2 Chemistry specification (3.2.6 Reactions of ions in aqueous solution) and forms part of the A2 Chemistry Required Practical 11: Carry out simple test-tube reactions to identify transition metal ions in aqueous solution.
