Col. Raanan Gissin, IDF Spokesman, on the 1991 Gulf War and the Scud missile attacks against Israel by Iraq. Dozens of rockets exploded on Israeli targets in a relentless attempt to provoke Israel into retaliating and joining the US war against Iraq and Sadam Hussein. Israel restrained itself and did not retaliate. Israel Army Spokesman Col. Raanan Gissin represented Israel's position most effectively to the foreign media and for many weeks was constantly seen on all the American TV networks and other media worldwide.
