Strada dell’Assietta pt.2: da Pian dell’Alpe al Colle dell’Assietta

La Strada dell’Assietta si dipana quasi interamente a quote superiori ai 2.000 metri offrendo un panorama spettacolare sulla Valli di Susa e Chisone. Inizia a Pian dell’Alpe, nel Parco naturale Orsiera Rocciavrè, del gruppo Ente di gestione delle aree protette delle Alpi Cozie nel comune di Usseaux, in Val Chisone. Siamo a circa 1.900 m slm. La Strada dell’Assietta (SP 173) di fine XIX secolo raggiunge Sestriere seguendo il crinale spartiacque tra la Val Susa e la Val Chisone e attraversando l’altopiano omonimo. Il sistema stradale dell’Assietta nella sua forma attuale è infatti frutto di successivi interventi a partire dalla firma della Triplice Alleanza, siglata nel 1882 tra Austria, Germania e Italia, quando la Francia tornò a essere una nazione nemica e la zona montana dell’altopiano dell’Assietta divenne ancora una volta un territorio fondamentale difensivo delle frontiere occidentali, non più Sabaude ma italiane. Conseguentemente venne deciso di realizzare la Piazza Militare dell’Assietta. Normalmente la strada è aperta da fine giugno a fine ottobre, tuttavia la percorribilità della strada potrebbe variare in base alle condizioni del manto stradale o metereologiche, con conseguenti lavori di ripristino e messa in sicurezza. Inoltre, vige il divieto di transito ai mezzi a motore il mercoledì e il sabato dalle 9 alle 17 nei mesi di luglio e agosto. Il limite massimo di velocità è di 30 kmh con divieto di transito ai veicoli di massa a pieno carico superiore a 3,5 tonnellate e ai veicoli di larghezza superiore a 2 metri, divieto di sorpasso e di sosta al di fuori dei parcheggi. Il primo tratto, da Pian dell’Alpe al Colle dell’Assietta, corre sul lato sud con scorci sul Monte Albergian e sulla lontana Sestriere. La mia prima tappa, partendo dal Pian dell'Alpe, sale dolcemente passando ai piedi della Cima Ciantiplagna (2.849 m), della Cima delle Vallette (2.745 m), del Gran Pelà (2.692 m) e della Punta del Gran Serin (2.629 m) si conclude al Colle dell’Assietta (2.472 m slm), un passo alpino delle Alpi Cozie italiane, in Piemonte, sul crinale tra l'alta Val di Susa a nord e l'alta Val Chisone a sud. The Strada dell’Assietta unfolds almost entirely at altitudes above 2,000 meters, offering a spectacular view of the Susa and Chisone Valleys. It begins at Pian dell’Alpe, in the Orsiera Rocciavrè Natural Park, of the Cozie Alps Protected Areas Management Group in the municipality of Usseaux, in Val Chisone.
