HOW TO MAKE HALO HALO Ingredients Cooked Red Sago (Tapioca), you can use any color Leche Flan, for toppings Ube Halaya (Purple Yam), for toppings Evaporated Milk Sugar Crushed Ice INGREDIENTS FOR COOKING OTHER HALO-HALO INGREDIENTS MINATAMIS NA MONGGO(SWEETENED RED MUNG BEANS) 1 cup red mung beans 1 cup brown sugar 3 cup water MINATAMIS NA WHITE BEANS (SWEETENED WHITE BEANS) 1 cup white beans 1 cup brown sugar 3 cup water MINATAMIS NA SAGING (SWEETENED BANANA) 5 pcs saging na saba (banana), sliced 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 cup water MINATAMIS NA KAMOTE (SWEETENED SWEET POTATOES) 7 pcs small kamote (sweet potatoes), cut into cubes 1 cup brown sugar 3 cup water GREEN JELLY CUBES 1 Tbsp Unflavored green gelatin powder 2 cup water Procedure 1. MINATAMIS NA MONGGO (RED MUNG BEANS). Wash and soak red mung beans overnight. After it soaked overnight, drain and wash. Put soaked red mung beans and water in a pot. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low medium, cook for 45 minutes or until soft but not mushy. Then drain and wash beans. In a pot combine brown sugar and water. Stir to dissolve brown sugar. Add boiled red mung beans, simmer for 20 to 30 minutes or until liquid has reduced. Turn off the heat and let it cool. 2. MINATAMIS NA BEANS (SWEETENED WHITE BEANS). Wash and soak white beans overnight. After it soaked overnight, drain and wash. Put soaked white beans and water in a pot. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low medium, cook for 30 to 40 minutes or until soft but not mushy. Then drain and wash beans. In a pot combine brown sugar and water. Stir to dissolve brown sugar. Add boiled red mung beans, simmer for 20 to 30 minutes or until liquid has reduced. Turn off the heat and let it cool. 3. MINATAMIS NA SAGING NA SABA (SWEETENED BANANA). In a pot combine brown sugar and water. Stir to dissolve brown sugar, add sliced saging na saba. Simmer over low medium heat until liquid is reduced. Turn off the heat and let it cool. 4. MINATAMIS NA KAMOTE (SWEETENED SWEET POTATOES). In a pot combine brown sugar and water. Stir to dissolve brown sugar, add sweet potato cubes. Simmer over low medium heat until liquid is reduced. Turn off the heat and let it cool. 5. HOW TO COOK JELLY CUBES. In a pot combine unflavored green gelatin powder and water. Stir to dissolve. Turn on stove and stir over medium heat until it boils. Pour jelly into the mould. Let it cool to set. Cut jelly into cubes. You can cook all of the ingredients in halo halo or you can just buy bottled preserved beans, ube halaya and leche flan at grocery stores and wet market. 6. ASSEMBLE THE HALO HALO. In a clear plastic cup add sago (tapioca pearls), jelly cubes, sweetened saging na saba, kamote(sweet potatoes), red mung beans, white beans and sugar. Fill remaining of the cups with crushed ice. Top with ube halaya and leche flan. Drizzle evaporated milk all over the halo halo. Enjoy!
