Varsity Quiz Bowl - 1980-81 - Cabrini HS vs Clifton L. Ganus HS

This was a second round Varsity Quiz Bowl match between Cabrini HS and Clifton L. Ganus High School (both in the New Orleans area). The VQB tournament started in September, 1980 with 64 teams and through single elimination wound down to a single champion by late May 1981. The half-hour TV show was produced by and aired on WYES Channel 12 (New Orleans, LA) and this particular season was sponsored by Pan American Life Insurance Company. My mother had apparently videotaped several of these games, which our team used for practice, and thankfully they were never erased... and given the fact that these tapes are over 30 years old when I found them - it is amazing that ANY of the picture portion survived. I've got a bunch of these, maybe 30-40 games in all - and I will very gladly post each and every single one of them. However since it takes two hours (background task) to upload each 28-minute program to YouTube, it will be slow going. My hope is that some of you who played the game from 1979-1981 will find these here on YouTube and enjoy a nostalgic charge from the past. One last note: to the teams who are on the top: I'm sorry. You came out green in the video. I've played with the tracking, cleaned the tape heads (it's a brand new VCR), and I just can't figure out how to fix that. The tapes ARE old (31-32 years old when I did this project) so there may be nothing I can do to fix that. Suggestions are always welcome.
