Jackson, Cards explode past Orange Lamar Jackson became the first Football Bowl Subdivision player to throw for 400 yards and rush for at least 175 and broke the Atlantic Coast Conference single-game record with 610 total yards in a dazzling performance that pushed Louisville past Syracuse 62-28. The No. 15 Cardinals broke the Atlantic Coast Conference record with 845 total yards and Jackson ran for four touchdowns - including one run in which he hurdled a defender - and threw for another as Louisville outraced the up-tempo Orange at the Carrier Dome. A week after accounting for eight touchdowns in the only half he played against Charlotte, Jackson completed 20 of 39 passes for 411 yards and ran for 199 on 21 carries while also breaking Chris Redman's 18-year-old school record for total yards. "He had a great game," coach Bobby Petrino said. "What I was really proud of was how he prepared for the game. He worked extremely hard all week, doing a great job leading all week. ... He's a talented guy, but believe me, it's not easy" even if he makes it look easy. Brandon Radcliff added a career-high 156 rushing yards, including a 48-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Jamari Staples (five catches, 136 yards) and James Quick (four, 108) both surpassed 100 yards receiving. Traveon Samuel and Jeremy Smith had long TD runs, too. The win keeps Louisville (2-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) undefeated for its Sept. 17 home showdown against No. 3 Florida State. The Cardinals have now scored 132 points in their first two games, and they might have scored more if not for three turnovers and a series of dropped passes. Jackson gave the performance of the offense a "C," grading evidently on a tough curve. Petrino, when asked about posting 845 total yards, said, "I feel like we probably should have had a few more."
