Dysmenorrhoea during periods is because of uterine contraction. Every month, the uterine lining or the endometrium is thickened. During periods the endometrium is shed off, and the blood supply with it is also shed off with uterine contractions. Regular uterine contractions will cause shedding of endometrium, and it causes dysmenorrhea. Definitely paracetamol can be taken for dysmenorrhea. But pain which happens a week before periods, and it persists for many days, and it is not regular congestive dysmenorrhea, and taking paracetamol and waiting is not a good option. Dysmenorrhea during the first day of periods, taking paracetamol is a good option, but other methods care there like exercise, lifestyle, yoga positioning, all these helps to reduce the pain during periods.
