Russell Moore believes vaccine hesitancy among White Evangelicals is rooted in distrust

Theologian Russell Moore says he believes vaccine hesitancy among White Evangelicals has more to do with distrust and misinformation than religion. He added that many people assume “pastors are the problem,” but he said he’s found that pastors have been encouraging their congregations to get vaccinated. “It’s not pastors. I think, instead, it’s the sort of conspiracy theorizing that comes across social media along with a sense of uncertainty. I don’t encounter many people in Evangelical life, at least who are church-goers, who are anti-vaxxers, but I do encounter a lot who are just wondering who do I trust and what do I believe.”
